ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating & PTFE Coating

ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating & PTFE Coating

Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) Coating is based on ETFE, a fluorine-based plastic. ETFE (TEFZEL) is distinguished from perfluoropolymers (totally fluorinated polymers) as a partially fluorinated copolymer of ethylene and TFE.

ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating & PTFE Coating

ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating

ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating offers wear resistance, impact toughness and radiation resistance, along with melt processability. The mechanical properties of ETFE (TEFZEL) are similar to those of fully fluorinated polymers.

PTFE Coating

Most commonly referred to as “Teflon,” PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high-molecular-weight fluorocarbon that is hydrophobic in nature. PTFE is primarily used to provide exceptional low-friction and wear-resistant surface properties in combination.

PTFE is used as a non-stick coating for pans and other cookware. It is nonreactive, partly because of the strength of carbon–fluorine bonds, and is often used in containers and pipework for reactive and corrosive chemicals.

Other useful PTFE properties include high flexural strength, even at low temperatures, high electrical resistance and dielectric strength, resistance to water, and a low coefficient of friction.

ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating Usage

ETFE (TEFZEL) Coating is used where the combination of wear resistance, impact toughness, radiation resistance, mechanical properties and melt processability is required.

Its characteristics make ETFE (TEFZEL) suitable for demanding coating applications where these performance properties are important considerations.

PTFE Coating Usage

PTFE Coating is used where low friction, wear resistance, non-stick properties, electrical resistance and resistance to water are required.

Its nonreactive nature also makes PTFE suitable for applications involving reactive and corrosive chemicals, including use in containers and pipework.

ETFE (TEFZEL) and PTFE Coating Solutions

ETFE (TEFZEL) and PTFE offer different combinations of properties for specialized coating applications. ETFE (TEFZEL) provides wear resistance, impact toughness and radiation resistance, while PTFE offers low friction, wear resistance, non-stick characteristics and strong electrical properties.

Advance Expertise Technology provides ETFE (TEFZEL) and PTFE coating solutions, including non-antistatic and antistatic ETFE variants and non-antistatic PTFE coating, according to the available variants and application requirements.
